Conservation Commission Minutes 8/24/11
Town of Greenfield
Conservation Commission Minutes
August 24, 2011

Attending: Carol Irvin, Karen Day, Neal Brown

Blueberry Jamboree: We reviewed the outcome of the BlueBerry Jamboree.  We sold all the blueberry bushes and decided to order another 36 for next year.  We did not sell enough raffle tickets to cover the cost of the dishes.  After all expenses were accounted for, we made a profit of $141.60, which will go into the Conservation Fund.

Monadnock Conservancy:  We thought Rocci Aguirre would attend to discuss the Conservancy’s current project in Greenfield.  He did not and Carol will followup and attempt to schedule him for our September meeting.

Eyes on Owls:  Kristen informed us that the program costs for Eyes on Owls is $400.  The Commission voted unanimously to contribute $200 from our program budget to support the costs of this program.  It will be held on September 25, at 2pm in the Meeting House.

Recycling Center Skid Steer:  The Recycling Center needs additional funds to cover the costs of a Skid Steer and all town departments were asked to contribute.  The Conservation Commission determined we could donate $500 from our budget, $250 from the town forester and the rest from programs and general supplies.  Carol confirmed the next day with the town forester her willingness to accept a lower fee this year given her work load in Greenfield has been less than in previous years.

We went over the mail, which included a notification from the state that sometime over the next year they would do some logging in the Greenfield State Park to enhance the quality of the forest.  We adjourned at 9:00 pm
